Mars is named after the Roman god of war, because it is often depicted with a red glow when viewed in our sky. It has always been a fascination for those interested in the possibility of life on other planets. In 1895, professor of astronomy, Samual Leland Phelps, wrote in a book entitled World telescope a new 40-inch is built by the University of Chicago, ”It will be possible to see cities on Mars, the detection of Marines in [his] ports, smoke and cities and villages manufacturing … Mars is inhabited?
There can be little doubt of the … conditions are favorable for life, life, including a high level. Is it possible to know that security? Certainly. “(cited in February, 1973, National Geographic)
For its part, the image shows a picture of Viking 2 Mars. There is no evidence that Professor Leland thinks we see with a telescope on Earth, Mars, but is still very important to us, no reason for this is that in May once have housed the conditions for the evolution of life.
